Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park Eagle Sculpture Replication and Visualization Project
The University of South Florida (USF), Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies (AIST) has been working with the Florida Department of State’s Bureau of Archaeological Research and with Florida State Parks to restore a historic copper eagle sculpture that is part of a monument from the Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park. The AIST at USF has produced a 3D scanned model of the copper eagle sculpture (6 ft. wing span), and has digitally repaired areas that have been impacted by vandalism (shot gun spray and blast), in order to create a final model that can be used to create a replica of this piece. This replica will be used for re-installation at the Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park. The AIST is working to develop the optimal sculpture solution for the production of a replica using the 3D file of the eagle model that will serve as the basis for the creation of the piece.
